HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Thanksgiving is the time when Americans sit down at the table to thank for all blessings. This is one of the most important holidays in the United States. It is celebrated in many ways, with parades, American football matches and other attractions taking place on this day.

Almost every major city has an event on Thanksgiving. The biggest and most famous parade is in New York, but other cities are organizing theirs too. For example, in Los Angeles, the parade takes place on the red carpet. In Chicago, the parade is sponsored by McDonald's. All three parades in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago are broadcast nationwide on television.                The first Thanksgiving parade in the United States was held in Philadelphia in 1920.

The Macy's store holds a huge parade in New York every year. Millions of Americans watch this parade broadcast on television - it is the largest parade in the United States. This tradition began in 1924 when zoo animals were reportedly carried through the streets of New York. At that time, over two million people came to the parade. Already three years later, live animals were replaced with decorated platforms.

Turkey day

The most distinctive feature of Thanksgiving is the roasted turkey, which the family father customarily cuts when baked. For Americans, this bird is as important as the Christmas Eve carp in Poland. About 46 million turkeys are eaten in the United States each year on Thanksgiving.

The turkey must not be missing on the Thanksgiving table. Note that on the first Thanksgiving in 1621, there was no turkey. Probably a different type of poultry was served then.  Nowadays, every table has to have a turkey during Thanksgiving. Stuffed turkey comes with a variety of toppings such as cranberry sauce.  A typical Thanksgiving dinner also includes mashed potatoes, corn, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin pie.

 What are YOU thankful for?

STAY HEALTHY AND FIT

Hello folks! Hope you’re all just fine! Be aware though, as the time is hard… Follow procedures, wear masks, keep the distance and stay safe and sound!

This post  is a guide (or a reminder) for you!

How to survive fall and winter illnesses?

Healthy Lifestyle Tips

Exercise. How can you stay fit? What can you do to strenghten your immune system and avoid colds? Any type of regular, physical activity can improve your fitness and your health. The most important thing is that you keep moving! Exercise should be a regular part of your day.  It can be a gym class, joining a sports team, or working out on your own.   Or dancing while walking..;)

Keep the following tips in mind:

Physical activity can improve your health and reduce the risk of developing several diseases. Regular exercise has immediate and long-term health benefits. Most importantly, regular activity can improve your quality of life.

Staying fit is a great way to improve your mood and overall health.  With some commitment and motivation, you can maintain your physical fitness for years to come!

Start walking, jogging or cycling. No matter what your speed is, walking, jogging and cycling are very important parts of a healthy lifestyle as they are activities that keep your heart and lungs active and your blood flowing.

Exercise at home. Not everyone has enough time or money to go to the gym and there is no need to. Working out at home is easy, convenient and can be beneficial as well.

Join a local sport team. If you are not a fan of the gym or practicing random exercises then joining a local sports team may be a great solution to get outside, move around, maybe make friends and have some fun!

Take it one step at a time. Small changes can add up to better fitness. For example, walk or ride your bike to school or to a friend's house instead of getting a ride. Get on or off the bus several houses away and walk the rest of the way. Use the stairs instead of taking the elevator or escalator.

 And remember!

Watch less TV or spend less time playing computer or video games. (Use this time to exercise instead!) Or exercise while watching TV (for example, sit on the floor and do sit-ups and stretches; use hand weights; or use a stationary bike, treadmill, or stair climber).

Get rid of junk food.  If you exercise and eat a lot of junk food you will not get any fitter. This is because the junk food turns to fat almost immediately. Junk foods contain poor nutrition and are high in sodium and sugar.

Eat healthy. Maintaining a balanced diet can be difficult  at first but it will increase energy and productivity, boost your metabolism and make you a happier person because you will be consuming the nutrients and vitamins your body needs.

·         Eat a variety of foods.

·         Enjoy plenty of fruits and vegetables.

·         Reduce salt and sugar intake.

·         Eat regularly, control the portion size.

·         Drink plenty of fluids.

Know when to eat. It is really important to avoid skipping meals. A lot of people might think that you will lose weight by skipping a meal but that is very inaccurate. In addition, skipping meals can affect your energy levels.

Drink a lot of water. The human body is made of about 50-65% of water, and you need to keep replenishing it. Your body sweats a lot of that water so you need to put it back in.

Stick to your plan. You know you can do it. You are the only one that can control your actions and strong willpower can make you happy!

·         Stick to a daily or every other day plan. If you have a routine that you follow it is much easier to stick to than just assuming you will get to exercising or you will get to eating a healthy meal.

Stay positive and have fun. A good mental attitude is important. Find an activity that you think is fun. You are more likely to keep with it if you choose something you like. A lot of people find it's more fun to exercise with someone else, so see if you can find a friend or family member to be active with you.

Have belief in yourself.  Do not care what other people think. If you are determined and believe that you can achieve your goal of staying fit then you can! Know that feeling when you feel great and strive to reach that goal everyday. Motivate yourself by wanting  to continue on this path of fitness and health.

You want to feel good, you want to look good, you want to be healthy... and you absolutely can!

         PS

besides: LOOK AROUND, ADMIRE AND ENJOY THE AUTUMN! :))))

Waiting for the summer...

The school year is almost over!

Close your eyes for a moment and think about the school holidays. Then write the words or draw the pictures of the things you thought of here:  ……………………………………………………………………………………………………

Your summer holidays can be a really exciting time, you might have a holiday booked that you’ve been looking forward to. Or you might be excited about spending more time with your family and friends.
The summer holidays can be a great chance to spend some enjoyable time with peers, friends, relatives … But sometimes you may feel lonely a bit. Or you might miss the routine you have when you’re in school.
It’ll take a while to get used to it. Just be patient, rest as much as possible with a good companion by your side.
The summer can be a time when you often start new relationships. Making friends is really exciting.

Safety first! Do not forget that staying safe and sound is important!                  So wherever you go follow the rules and just be careful!

Hobby or Holiday?

Ever wanted to go gorilla spotting or is exotic food tasting more right up your street? Find out what is popular in the UK.

Summer holiday trends and suggestions in the United Kingdom:

Experiential holidays
‘Experiential’ holidays are the new vogue. Brits are no longer content with two weeks spent sunning themselves on a beach, they require something more to fulfill their holiday needs – whether trying something new in familiar places or going to somewhere completely different. Even though Spain is still the UK’s number one holiday destination, it is themed holidays such as riding, dancing, golfing and trekking that are popular rather than the beach. France attracts people interested in golf, cultural, gastronomic and spa holidays. Further afield there is gorilla spotting in Uganda, whale spotting in Iceland, and white-water rafting in New Zealand.

 Walking holiday
Philip, a librarian from Gloucester, enjoys walking holidays. He goes to a country specifically to go walking in the countryside. If there are mountains or lakes nearby, this is even better. With a dislike of beach holidays, national parks are the ideal holiday location. He prefers short breaks as he dislikes being away from work for too long, but tries to see as much of the local countryside as possible. Phiilip’s favourite rural destinations are Germany and Romania as they both offer excellent walking and lots of different landscapes.

Yoga Holiday
Natalie is a shop assistant. Her priority for a holiday was to relax and improve her yoga moves. She chose to go to Ibiza as it is a beautiful place offering fantastic beaches and is a world- renowned yoga retreat. She says ‘As a single person, I was nervous about going on my own but found that most other people on the holiday were also single and of a similar age.’ Not only did she find like-minded people but also improved her mental and physical well-being. The world is feeling smaller. With cheaper flights and flexible holidays it is getting easier for us to follow our dreams and attain the ultimate holiday experience.

If you could choose an ‘experiential holiday’ and combine a holiday with a hobby, what would you do? Why?

What are your personal holiday plans and preferences??? ;)

I wish you the best summer ever! Have a nice summer vacation!  Go to beautiful places, enjoy the countryside, go to the beach, go shopping, enjoy! I hope your vacation will give you the pleasure you need so that you don't have to think of any problems back at home!

HAPPY CHILDREN'S DAY!

When is International Children's Day?
International Children's Day is a public holiday observed in some countries on June 1st.
History of International Children's Day.
The origin of this holiday goes back to 1925 when representatives from different countries met in Geneva, Switzerland to convene the first "World Conference for the Wellbeing of Children".
After the conference, some governments around the world designated a day as Children's Day to highlight children's issues. There was no specific date recommended, so countries used whatever date was most relevant to their culture.
The date of June 1st is used by many ex-Soviet countries as 'The International Day for Protection of Children' was established on 1 June 1950 following the Women's International Democratic Federation's congress in Moscow that took place in 1949.

With the creation of World Children's Day, UN member states recognized children, regardless of race, colour, sex, religion and national or social origin, the right to affection, love, understanding, adequate food, medical care, free education, protection against all forms of exploitation and growing in a climate of universal peace and brotherhood.
Many countries have established a Children's Day but this is commonly not observed as a public holiday. For instance, some countries observe Children's' Day on November 20th as Universal Children’s Day. This day was established by the United Nations in 1954 and aims to promote the welfare of children around the world.
