HAPPY NEW YEAR!

There’s an ancient Chinese proverb that says:

“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago.                                          The second best time is now.”

Once you’re done with your year - end reflection for the year that ended, it’s time to look forward to the year that’s about to start. What will you write for the next chapter of your life? It’s entirely up to you. Take the first step to make sure that it’s a good great chapter by setting New Year’s resolutions.

The New Year is still as excellent a time as any to start working towards the changes you want to make. And more important than when you start is how you go about changing your behaviour.

Every year, millions of people make New Year’s resolutions, hoping to spark positive change. The recurring themes each year include a more active approach to health and fitness, improved finances, and learning new things for personal and professional development.

The top 10 most common resolutions will look familiar to you;))

1.  Exercise more.

2.  Lose weight.

3.  Cut down on sugar.

4.  Learn a new skill or take up a new hobby.

5.  Meet friends and relatives more often.

6.  Save more money / spend less money

7.  Quit fast food and fizzy drinks.

8.  Learn more.

9.  Travel more.

10.Read more.

If you want to accomplish your New Year’s resolution this year,   follow these 10 steps:

1) Start by committing to a change that is easy to do.

2) Make your New Year's resolutions happen.

Despite the best of intentions, once the glow of a fresh new year wears off, many people struggle to make good on their plans. According to a study published in the Journal of Clinical Psychology, only 46% of people who made New Year’s resolutions were successful. That means over half of the people who set a goal for the new year will fail!

3) Mentally prepare for change.

Naturally, your resolution may focus on areas that lack progress, but don’t forget to savor the progress made, and find some small way to celebrate. Those happy feelings are useful! If possible, try to associate them with an object or word related to your accomplishment.

As you start thinking about the changes you want to implement, make sure to do the following:

  • Stay positive
  • Try not to make big/quick changes
  • Change should be gradual
  • Build on smaller changes
  • Allow a little room for error

4. Set a goal that motivates you.

You would be surprised how often people set goals that are not for themselves.

Make sure the goal you set is important to you and only you and that there is value or benefit for you in achieving the goal.

5. Limit resolutions to a manageable amount.

We all want to learn 25 different languages, 15 new job skills, and eliminate 5 bad habits, but we are not superheroes. We only have so much attention span we can dedicate to self-improvement, so having too many resolutions is a great way not to achieve the many goals you have set out for yourself.

Thus, you should make a short list of resolutions that you can manage in the upcoming year. Knowing that short list of priorities is the hard part. The key is understanding how to prioritize.

Final thought: It’s better to tackle one resolution well than multiple resolutions poorly.

6. Break up big goals into smaller goals.

A lot of us tend to be overeager  when it comes to resolutions. We have the best of intentions and may accidentally take on a goal that is too big to achieve. Thus, it’s helpful to divide a big goal into smaller goals that are more achievable.

You can break up your year-long resolution into weekly or monthly goals. And have tasks planned for each month.

1.  January: ………………………..

2.  March: ……………………..

3.  May: ……………………..

4.  July: ……………………

5.  September: …………………..

7. Write down your goals.

Written goals are a reminder of how far you have come and what you have achieved. It’s a nice feeling to look at back at the end of next year, and know your resolution has come to fruition.

8. Share your resolutions with others.

“If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?”

It’s great to make a resolution for yourself and maybe even write it down, but if no one else knows about it, it’s easy to forget about or even ignore. And when you don’t achieve it, no one will notice or care.

Crazy as it sounds, this sense of guilt is often more powerful than self-motivation. The upshot here is that when you do succeed, the people you shared with will celebrate with you!

9. Review your resolution regularly.

Let’s face it, if you are not thinking about your resolution regularly, you are not going to follow through. Thus, a crucial part of realizing your goal is a regular review.

10. If you fall off track, get back on quickly.

Rome was not built in a day.

We’ve established it will take time for your resolution to become a reality and we know change is difficult. In fact, we’ve already established we should leave some room for mistakes and setbacks.

A few small mistakes shouldn’t spoil your resolution for the year!

We hope these 10 steps help you follow through with your resolutions and make 2021 your best year ever!!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Thanksgiving is the time when Americans sit down at the table to thank for all blessings. This is one of the most important holidays in the United States. It is celebrated in many ways, with parades, American football matches and other attractions taking place on this day.

Almost every major city has an event on Thanksgiving. The biggest and most famous parade is in New York, but other cities are organizing theirs too. For example, in Los Angeles, the parade takes place on the red carpet. In Chicago, the parade is sponsored by McDonald's. All three parades in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago are broadcast nationwide on television.                The first Thanksgiving parade in the United States was held in Philadelphia in 1920.

The Macy's store holds a huge parade in New York every year. Millions of Americans watch this parade broadcast on television - it is the largest parade in the United States. This tradition began in 1924 when zoo animals were reportedly carried through the streets of New York. At that time, over two million people came to the parade. Already three years later, live animals were replaced with decorated platforms.

Turkey day

The most distinctive feature of Thanksgiving is the roasted turkey, which the family father customarily cuts when baked. For Americans, this bird is as important as the Christmas Eve carp in Poland. About 46 million turkeys are eaten in the United States each year on Thanksgiving.

The turkey must not be missing on the Thanksgiving table. Note that on the first Thanksgiving in 1621, there was no turkey. Probably a different type of poultry was served then.  Nowadays, every table has to have a turkey during Thanksgiving. Stuffed turkey comes with a variety of toppings such as cranberry sauce.  A typical Thanksgiving dinner also includes mashed potatoes, corn, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin pie.

 What are YOU thankful for?

STAY HEALTHY AND FIT

Hello folks! Hope you’re all just fine! Be aware though, as the time is hard… Follow procedures, wear masks, keep the distance and stay safe and sound!

This post  is a guide (or a reminder) for you!

How to survive fall and winter illnesses?

Healthy Lifestyle Tips

Exercise. How can you stay fit? What can you do to strenghten your immune system and avoid colds? Any type of regular, physical activity can improve your fitness and your health. The most important thing is that you keep moving! Exercise should be a regular part of your day.  It can be a gym class, joining a sports team, or working out on your own.   Or dancing while walking..;)

Keep the following tips in mind:

Physical activity can improve your health and reduce the risk of developing several diseases. Regular exercise has immediate and long-term health benefits. Most importantly, regular activity can improve your quality of life.

Staying fit is a great way to improve your mood and overall health.  With some commitment and motivation, you can maintain your physical fitness for years to come!

Start walking, jogging or cycling. No matter what your speed is, walking, jogging and cycling are very important parts of a healthy lifestyle as they are activities that keep your heart and lungs active and your blood flowing.

Exercise at home. Not everyone has enough time or money to go to the gym and there is no need to. Working out at home is easy, convenient and can be beneficial as well.

Join a local sport team. If you are not a fan of the gym or practicing random exercises then joining a local sports team may be a great solution to get outside, move around, maybe make friends and have some fun!

Take it one step at a time. Small changes can add up to better fitness. For example, walk or ride your bike to school or to a friend's house instead of getting a ride. Get on or off the bus several houses away and walk the rest of the way. Use the stairs instead of taking the elevator or escalator.

 And remember!

Watch less TV or spend less time playing computer or video games. (Use this time to exercise instead!) Or exercise while watching TV (for example, sit on the floor and do sit-ups and stretches; use hand weights; or use a stationary bike, treadmill, or stair climber).

Get rid of junk food.  If you exercise and eat a lot of junk food you will not get any fitter. This is because the junk food turns to fat almost immediately. Junk foods contain poor nutrition and are high in sodium and sugar.

Eat healthy. Maintaining a balanced diet can be difficult  at first but it will increase energy and productivity, boost your metabolism and make you a happier person because you will be consuming the nutrients and vitamins your body needs.

·         Eat a variety of foods.

·         Enjoy plenty of fruits and vegetables.

·         Reduce salt and sugar intake.

·         Eat regularly, control the portion size.

·         Drink plenty of fluids.

Know when to eat. It is really important to avoid skipping meals. A lot of people might think that you will lose weight by skipping a meal but that is very inaccurate. In addition, skipping meals can affect your energy levels.

Drink a lot of water. The human body is made of about 50-65% of water, and you need to keep replenishing it. Your body sweats a lot of that water so you need to put it back in.

Stick to your plan. You know you can do it. You are the only one that can control your actions and strong willpower can make you happy!

·         Stick to a daily or every other day plan. If you have a routine that you follow it is much easier to stick to than just assuming you will get to exercising or you will get to eating a healthy meal.

Stay positive and have fun. A good mental attitude is important. Find an activity that you think is fun. You are more likely to keep with it if you choose something you like. A lot of people find it's more fun to exercise with someone else, so see if you can find a friend or family member to be active with you.

Have belief in yourself.  Do not care what other people think. If you are determined and believe that you can achieve your goal of staying fit then you can! Know that feeling when you feel great and strive to reach that goal everyday. Motivate yourself by wanting  to continue on this path of fitness and health.

You want to feel good, you want to look good, you want to be healthy... and you absolutely can!

         PS

besides: LOOK AROUND, ADMIRE AND ENJOY THE AUTUMN! :))))
